A hardcopy output is an output, which is produced on a paper or some meterial, which can be touched and carried for being shown to others..They are permanenet in nature, and can be kept in paper files,or can be looked later, when the person is not using the computer...

MONITERS...

Moniters are by far the most popular output device and used today for producing soft-copy output. They display the generated output on a television like screen.A moniter is usually associated with a keyboard ,and together they form a video display terminal (VDT).A VDT is the most popular (I/O) device used with today's computers. There are two types of moniters used now a days CRT and FLAT-PANEL....

PRINTERS..

Printers are the most commonaly used output devices today for producing hard copy outut. The various types of printers in use today..

DOT MATRIX PRINTERS...

Dot matrix printers are character printers, which print one character at a time. They form characters and all kinds of images as a pattern of dots.A dot matrix printer has a print head, which can move horizentlly across the paper. The print head contain an array of pins, which can be activated independent of each other to extend and strike against an inked ribon to form a pattern of dots on the paper.
Dot matrix printers are normally slow with speed usually ranging between 30 to 600 characters per second. However, they are cheap in term of both initial and cost op operation.

INKJET PRINTERS....

Inkjet printers are character printers, which form characters and all kind of image by spraying small drops of ink on the paper. The print head of an inkjet printer contains up to 64 tiny nozzels, which can be selectively heated up in a few microseconds by an integrated curcuit register.
Inkjet printers are slower than Dot matrix speed usually ranging between 40 to 300 character per second.Typically it is more expensive than dot matrix.

DRUM PRINTERS...

Drum printers are line printers, which print one line at a time.It consists of a solid cylindrical drum with characterd embossed on its surface in the form of circular bands. Each band consists of all the printing characters supported by the printer in its character set,and the total number of bands is equal to the maximum number of characters that can be printed on aline.Typical speeds of drum printers are in the range of 300 to 2000 lines per minute.
